How verification works

A clear pipeline from draft to statuses — designed for filing day, not demo day.

1. Ingest

Paste a memo or brief, load a sample, or use the Word add-in / Chrome extension. Free beta is paste-first; .txt files work today. Full PDF/DOCX extract continues to deepen.

2. Extract

CiteSafe pulls case, statute, and rule-like strings from the text. Under Confidential Mode (default), extraction runs in your browser so only public citation strings are candidates to leave the device.

3. Score

  • Fabrication heuristics — impossible reporters, broken forms, known LLM failure patterns
  • Authority corpus — high-signal known authorities
  • Primary indexes when live — CourtListener citation lookup, CAP, GovInfo
  • Confidence + reason text per citation

4. Statuses

  • Verified — existence or high-confidence match with named source
  • Needs Review — ambiguous form or partial match
  • Could Not Verify — do not file until confirmed on primary authority

Existence is not good law. Confirm holdings and treatment before relying on a cite for a filing position.

5. Export

Export JSON / HTML / text with report hash and source lineage for partner review, client files, or compliance packs. Word: Verify on Export + CiteSafe Verified stamp.
